Joint Winners

Hant CCEden Food Service

‘As corporate members of the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK partners you would expect Eden to provide a comprehensive service for the 60,000 children that they feed at primary and secondary level – but they really go over and beyond. With 450 variations on their bespoke menus parents can have total confidence that any one of the 1200 allergic or intolerant pupils that they look after will be fed safely and well. Their processes are excellent and we particularly commend their efforts to ensure that their allergic children do not feel excluded by providing them with meals as close as possible to those eaten by their non-allergic peers. Worthy winners.'

FitzwilliamFitzwilliam College, Cambridge

'Excellent allergen awareness – in line with the university's very enlightened approach to managing food allergy. (Generic auto-injectors are available throughout the campus for use in emergencies; university staff are trained in their use.) Tight control procedures using the Saffron system allow tracking of all allergens – and allow students/guests to access that information via an app. Really good, safe systems but still exciting and interesting food.'

Highly Commended

PlymouthWilson Jones Catering at Kingfield Primary School

'Excellent awareness of severe food allergy and the procedures needed to keep the children safe – yet they are still seeking to 'include' even the most allergic children wherever possible. A hard job within a primary school environment.'

Commended

SouthamptonSouthampton Solent University

'A good understanding of basic allergen control procedures. We really like their new 'freefrom' menus and their efforts to strike a balance between being prescriptive and being responsible.'
