Mommi – South London

Bethany Swain and Karolina Obrzut of Mommi being presented with the trophy by FreeFrom Eating Out Awards director, Michelle Berriedale-Johnson

'Not only was the judge who visited Mommi (a widely experienced coeliac who also has a nut allergy) blown away by Mommi’s service and their food but our on line judges were hugely impressed by their systems.'
‘Everything succinct and totally thought through; love the verbal follow up.’ ‘Plus points for their guest profile and allergen complaint log sheets – and for supplying all staff with the allergen lists.’ ‘Colour coded cleaning products to avoid cross contamination – excellent.’ ‘So impressed with their level of staff training and flexibility….’

’They were extremely welcoming and already had a record of my needs (coeliac and nut allergic). All staff were aware and checked back several times. This is a seriously exciting place to eat – the high quality ingredients, the combinations of ingredients, textures and flavours – all were simply fantastic. Incredible food in a fabulous environment…'

Runners up...

Indigo at One Aldwych – London

’Friendly, welcoming staff dealt competently with all allergy enquiries – the restaurant is already gluten and dairy free. The food is fantastic – each dish sampled offered something special; flavours and textures a delight to experience. The homemade gluten free bread is to die for – and I never thought I would say that about a gluten free bread!’

Knife & Fork – Banbury

‘So understanding and knowledgeable – nothing was too much trouble. The food was stunning. The flavours put together for the evening meal were outstanding – the most amazing apricot marshmallow which was HUGE! It was such a fun evening and I felt totally safe.’

Rainbow Vegetarian Café and Restaurant – Cambridge

‘The service was top notch throughout the entire meal. I was very impressed. They really understood about every kind of allergy – and gluten free. The food was amazing. The lasagne was honestly divine – and oh my – the mint chocolate cheesecake… Very good value – and nothing too much effort.’

University of Winchester Food Hall – Hampshire

‘We have a lot of students with allergies’, he told me, ‘and it is my job to make sure they get something to safe, exciting and healthy to eat'. The food was very tasty – also fairtrade, sustainable fish etc. Impressive in a mass catering establishment.'
