Categories 2018

 

  • Entry for the 2018 awards will open on Wednesday 16th May.
  • Entry closes on: Friday 27th July.
  • Entries which are submitted before the Sunday 17th June will receive a 10% discount on their entry fees.
  • A shortlist will be published in late October.
  • The presentation of the awards will take place on the 20th November at Food Matters Live at Excel.

1. Crème de la Crème
A category for winners – only open to entrants who have won their categories in previous years.
Entry criteria: To enter this category your establishment must have won the category that you entered in a previous year's awards.
Entry fees: as per the categories below

2. • NEW • FreeFrom Newbies
Sponsored for 2018 by The Food Allergy Consultancy

A new category for outlets who have been offering a 'freefrom'/allergy aware menu for two years or less on May 21st/16th 2018.
Open both to entirely new establishments and to existing eateries who have decided to offer a specifically allergen aware/freefrom menu.
The winner will also be offered mentoring by the sponsor.

3. Cafés & teashops
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of one gluten-free and one dairy and/or egg free savoury dish and one gluten-free and one dairy and/or egg free sweet dish.
Entry fees:
Individual cafés and teashops: £75 + VAT
Coffee & teashop chains with more than 3 outlets: £125 + VAT



4. Fish & Chip shops
Sponsored for 2018 by Middleton Foods
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of three gluten-free 'days' per week.
Entry fees:
Individual fish and chippers: £75 + VAT
Chains of 10 outlets or more: £125 + VAT



5. • NEW • Street foods and takeaways
Sponsored for 2018 by Romer Labs
A new category to cover market stalls, street vendors and takeaways.
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of one gluten-free and one dairy and/or egg free savoury dish.
Entry fees:
Individual outlets: £55 + VAT



6. Independent Restaurants and Pub Restaurants
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and two gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes.
Entry fees:
Individual restaurants & pub restaurants: £95 + VAT



7. Restaurant and Pub Restaurant Chains
Sponsored for 2018 by FarmFrites
Entry criteria:
The chain must hav a miminum of five outlets to qualify for this category.
Each outlet must offer a minimum three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes.

If the chain is shortlisted, three of its outlets around the country will be visited, incognito, by FreeFrom Eating Out Awards judges.
Entry fees:
Restaurant or Pub Restaurant Chains: £195 + VAT



8. Hotels, guest houses & B&Bs
Sponsored for 2018 by Thomas Ridley Food Service
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes – plus two gluten-free and two dairy-free breakfast options.
Entry fees:
B&Bs / guest houses with 4 rooms or less: £55 + VAT
Individual guest houses/hotels with maximum two outlets: £95 + VAT
Hotel chains with 3 or more outlets: £195 + VAT




9. Focus on gluten
Sponsored for 2018 by Coeliac UK
For establishments of any kind that have focused on providing safe gluten-free options for those eating out. To enter this category the establishment must have been awarded Coeliac UK's GF accreditation.
Entry fees: as per the categories above.



10. Foods manufactured for food service
Entry criteria:
To qualify for this category, all entries must be free of at least one of the main major allergens – wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soya and sulphites.
Entry fees:
Companies with 3 or fewer employees: £90 per product + VAT
Companies with over 3 employees: £150 per product + VAT
