Nota Bene. Three different judges visited three Pizza Express outlets across the country. The comments below are drawn from all three judges.


Judges comments - July/August 2017

'Upon arrival the member of staff that seated us was lovely and very good with reassurance that the GF items would be kept separate and there was little I couldn't have.'

'There were plenty of gluten free options on the menu but my husband ate a dairy free pizza with no cheese. There was a vegan cheese pizza available too but there wasn't much in the way of gluten or dairy free desserts.'

'The same person took our order and delivered the food to our table. The 'gluten-free' plates were a different colour to other people's which was reassuring, although there was a bit of confusion over the gluten-free dough balls.'

'Gluten-free GF Garlic dough balls were lovely. We shared Mozzarella and tomato salad - very tasty with a flavoursome pesto dressing. Gluten-free Padana thin and crispy base is so much better than some of the other restaurant bases I've tasted. Lovely fillings of goats cheese and onion – the combination was perfect. Gluten-free Piata – vegan/no cheese, plenty of rocket and succulent artichoke, not as tasty as the padana but very good. Gluten-free brownie was same old same old – but nice. My son had ice cream with his which was lovely. I had mascarpone which was a nice change.'

'My pizza was to die for, full of flavour, toppings and looked amazing. I had to take some home as I couldn't manage it all.'

'You always get the same consistent standard from Pizza Express. Its quick and easy to go and order, not bad value and you know that the pizza will always taste good and be safe. Nothing massively over exciting – but reliable.'
