Categories 2017

 

  • Entry for the 2017 awards will open on Tuesday June 14th.
  • Entry closes on: Sunday 10th September apart from
    Category 10 (Food manufactured for food service) which closes on 31st July.
  • Entries which are submitted before the 15th July will receive a 10% discount on their entry fees.
  • A shortlist will be published in late October.
  • The presentation of the awards will take place at Food Matters Live, in November.

• Cost of entry:

We offer a 10% discount to any entrant to categories 1–9 who completes their entry form and pays their entry fee before 15th July.
We offer a 10% discount to any entrant to categories 10 who completes their entry form and pays their entry fee before 30th June.

• Listing on Can I Eat There?

All entrants will get a full and FREE listing in the new Can I Eat There? directory; outlets shortlisted in the awards will get a FREE premium listing on the site.

 

1. • NEW • Crème de la Crème
A new category for winners – only open to entrants who have won their categories in previous years.
Entry criteria: To enter this category your establishment must have won the category that you entered in a previous year's awards.
Entry fees: as per the categories below


2. • NEW • Focus on gluten
Sponsored for 2017 by Romer Labs
Working with Coeliac UK we have set up a new category for establishments of any kind that have focused on providing safe gluten-free options for those eating out.
Entry criteria: To enter this category the establishment must have been awarded Coeliac UK's GF accreditation.
Entry fees: as per the categories below


3. Cafés & teashops
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of one gluten-free and one dairy and/or egg free savoury dish and one gluten-free and one dairy and/or egg free sweet dish.
Entry fees:
Individual cafés and teashops: £55 + VAT
Coffee & teashop chains with more than 3 outlets: £125 + VAT



4. Fish & Chip shops
Sponsored for 2017 by Middleton Foods
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of one gluten-free 'day' per week.
Entry fees:
Individual fish and chippers: £35 + VAT
Chains of 10 outlets or more: £95 + VAT


5. Pubs and pub restaurants
Sponsored for 2017 by FarmFrites
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and two gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes.
Entry fees:
Individual pubs & pub restaurants: £55 + VAT
Pub chains with more than 3 outlets: £125 + VAT



6. Independent Restaurants
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes.
Entry fees:
Individual restaurants: £65 + VAT



7. Restaurants chains
Sponsored for 2017 by Riso Gallo
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes.
Entry fees:
Restaurant chains with more than 3 outlets: £150 + VAT



8. Hotels, guest houses & B&Bs
Entry criteria:
The outlet must offer a minimum of three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free savoury dishes and three gluten-free and two dairy and/or egg free sweet dishes – plus two gluten-free and two dairy-free breakfast options.
Entry fees:
B&Bs / guest houses with 4 rooms or less: £35 + VAT
Individual guest houses/hotels with maximum two outlets: £65 + VAT
Hotel chains with 3 or more outlets: £150 + VAT




9. Universities and colleges
Sponsored for 2017 by Thomas Ridley Food Service
Entry criteria:
The university or college must offer a reasonable choice of gluten, dairy and egg free savoury and sweet dishes every day and have an emergency protocol for dealing with allergic reactions.
Entry fees:
University & college restaurants and cafés: £75 + VAT



10. Foods manufactured for food service
Sponsored for 2017 by Genon Laboratories
Entry criteria:
To qualify for this category, all entries must be free of at least one of the main major allergens – wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, soya and sulphites.
Entry fees:
Companies with 3 or fewer employees: £90 per product + VAT
Companies with over 3 employees: £150 per product + VAT
